Three things, every time.
A heart-focused practice, together
Every session opens with the group doing the practice as a group. Not a demonstration you watch — the actual thing, at the same time, in the same room. It settles the space before any talking happens, and doing it alongside other people is noticeably different from doing it alone.
Technique, and how to carry it home
Then instruction: what the technique is, what it's doing, and how to use it on your own during the week. The aim is that you leave each session able to do something without us — the home practice is the point, and the session is where it gets taught and troubleshot.
Questions that find your virtues
And then the part that's specific to you: a set of questions designed to surface your own character strengths and, more to the point, where they're already showing up and where they could. Not a personality label — a working knowledge of what you have to draw on.
Where it's going
Ninety minutes a week. That's long enough for each session to hold all three parts without rushing, and short enough that it stays a commitment you can actually keep through a busy end of year.
Across the six sessions, two things build at once.
The first is confidence with the tools — not knowing about them, but reaching for them without having to think. That's what makes them useful when something actually goes wrong: a hard conversation, a stretch of anxiety, a creative block that won't move. Early on you'll be following instructions. By the end, the aim is that you have a way to steady yourself that belongs to you.
The second is slower and harder to name. It's the self-discovery part — arriving at a clearer sense of what makes you particular. Not a strengths report, but the kind of knowledge that changes what you say yes to. The two build together on purpose: it's difficult to see yourself clearly while dysregulated, and it's difficult to steer well without knowing what you're steering by.
The week between sessions matters as much as the sessions do. It's where the home practice happens, and where whatever came up on Thursday gets tested against an ordinary week. There's one longer gap built in, over Thanksgiving — which tends to be a useful stretch rather than a lost one, since a holiday week with family is where these tools get their most honest test.
What to expect
When does it meet, and for how long?
What do I need to prepare?
